Vision 2020: Right to sight includes all except
Vision 2020 is a global initiative to eliminate all avoidable (preventable or treatable) causes of blindness from the world. The target diseases included globally are Cataract, refractive errors, childhood blindness, trachoma & onchocerciasis whereas in India the diseases targeted are Cataract, refractive errors, childhood blindness, trachoma, glaucoma, corneal opacity and diabetic retinopathy. Epidemic conjunctivitis is neither a target disease globally nor in India. Since onchocerciasis does not occur in India it is not included in the Indian Vision 2020 program.
