a. Some of the New initiatives undertaken under RCH- II program:
i. Training of MBBS doctors in anaesthetic skills for emergency obstetric care at FRUs.
ii. Training of MBBS doctors in obstetric management skills.
iii. Setting up of blood storage centres at FRUs.
iv. Development of cadre of community level skilled birth attendants.
v. Janani Suraksha Yojana (National Maternity Benefit Scheme)
vi. Vandemataram Scheme.
i. is a safe motherhood intervention
ii. implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among the poor pregnant women
iii. 100 % centrally sponsored scheme
iv. integrates cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care.
v. The success of the scheme would be determined by the increase in institutional delivery among the poor families
vi. Preg women, aged >19 years, 1st & 2nd live births.( 3rd in case ready for sterilization) are eligible
vii. Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Rajasthan, Orissa and Jammu and Kashmir. While these states have been named as Low Performing States (LPS),
viii. the remaining states have been named as High performing States (HPS).
