What is the major fate of glucose— 6 phosphate in the tissue in the fed state?
|A||Isomerisation to Fructose-6-phosphate|
|B||Hydrolysis to glucose|
|C||Conversion to glycogen|
|D||Conversion to ribulose-6-phosphate|
Glycogenesis →Occurs mainly in muscle and liver (that is synthesis of glycogen from glucose):- as follows
a. Activity of the enzyme of glycogenesis (Eg. Glucokinase, glycogen synthase) are Increased in carbohydrates feeding condition while their activity are decreased in starvation and DM. Therefore during feeding state Glu-6-Po is converted into Glycogen. -
b. The activity of Glucose-6-phosphatase (final step, enzyme in glycogenolysis) is decreased in feeding while increased during starvation.
