b. This cyst, called a syrinx, can expand and elongate over time, destroying the spinal cord.. Cervical Syringomyelia has variable clinical presentations which include asymmetric weakness and atrophy of hands,lower limb spasticity, areflexia of upper extremity, dissociated sensory loss in the neck and arms (classic cape like distribution) and increased tone and hyperreflexia of lower limb.
c. Thus there is wasting of hand and not hypertrophy.
d. Diagnostic modality is MRI
e. Treatment is surgical
