Which of the following is the renin induced hypertension:

A Renal artery stenosis hypertension

B Coarctation of aorta

C Renovascular hypertension

D Essential hypertension

Ans. C Renovascular hypertension

Hypertension can be produced by renal disease. It results due to one of the following factors:

I. A derangement in the renal handling of sodium and fluids which leads to volume expansion.

II. An alteration in renal secretion of vaso-active materials. This results in a systemic or local change in arteriolar tone

a. Renovascular hypertension for example, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia

b. renal parenchymal hypertension

Renal vascular hypertension is due to decreased perfusion of renal tissue caused by stenosis of renal artery. This activates the AENIN-ANGIOTENSIN SYSTEM resulting in elevated circulating angiotensin II which increases arterial pressure by directly causing vasoconstriction and by stimulating aldosterone secretion which leads to sodium retention.
