Indian childhood cirrhosis (lCC)

a. ICC of lis almost exclusively confto children in the Indian subcontinent.

b. Most cases occur between the age of 6 months to 4 years.

Pathology

o Normal lymphatics o Fatty changes are minimal.

o Mallory's hyaline o Patent portal vein and biliary passage.

o Scant inflammatory response o Aggressive fibrosis throughout the parenchyma.

o Regenerative process is slow o Marked hepatocyte damage with little sign of regeneration.

o Kuffer's cell hyperplasia o Cholestasis -> Intracellular, and canalicular & ductal plug.

Clinical featurs

o Progressive distension of abdomen o Marked irritability o Low grade irregularpyrexia
