The incidence of drowsiness with brimonidine is 4-29 %. It is the prodrug of clonidine.
Alpha-adrenergic agents reduce the production of aqueous humor. Examples include apraclonidine (Iopidine) and brimonidine (Alphagan). Possible side effects include increased blood pressure; dizziness; red, itchy or swollen eyes; dry mouth; and allergic reactions.
