Wegener's Granulomatosis:

a. Mainly involves small arteries and veins, sometimes larger arteries and veins are also involved.

b. It is characterized by:

i. Acute necrotizing granulomas of upper and lower respiratory tract.

ii. Focal necrotizing vasculitis of lungs and upper airways

iii. Renal disease in the form of glomerulitis, mostly crescentic

c. Typical clinical feature of it include,

i. Bilateral nodular and cavitary infiltrates (95%)

ii. Chronic sinusitis (90%)

iii. Mucosal ulcerations of nasopharynx (75%)

iv. Renal disease

v. Immune complexes have been seen in glomeruli & vessel walls in some patients.

d. There is presence of serum auto antibody against neutrophilic, (ANCA) antineutrophilic cytoplasmic antibodies
