Which of this does not handle the free radicals in lens? (AIIMS May 2011)
Enzymes involved in free radical detoxification:
1. Superoxide Dismutase
2. Glutathione peroxidase
a. Vitamin C and E are also implicated in detoxification of free radicals.
b. Food with increased lutein content will reduce cataract formation
c. Vitamin C also helps to modulate HMP pathway of lens
d. Chromophores present in lens act as sensitizers of photo oxidation of lens proteins. These chromophores contribute to protein cross linking and aggregation which leads to cataract development.
