Question Type-Scenarios/Situations/Strategies-What we should do?

All the question types have a well-defined methodology that we discussed, except Strategy type problems. You have to develop skills in the following areas in order to develop intuition for estimating the correct answer.

Precisely identify the criterion in the problem.

Tune yourself to answer according to the criterion.

Improve your skills in applying the concepts presented as information in the question.

Improve your ability to understand principles, rules, and other concepts.

Predict consequences that would follow from a context.

Incorporate the information, from a new scenario.

Decide whether answer-choices would comply with the rules and principles in the problems.

Strategic questions ask about the means of achieving a goal within the context of particular needs or constraints.

For example, you may be asked to
  • Choose a plan of action that minimizes risks and maximizes value
  • Identify tradeoffs required to reach a goal
  • Specify the mathematical formula that will yield a desired result
  • Determine which means of completing a task are consistent within given constraints
Infer questions ask about information or ideas that are not explicitly stated in the materials provided but can be derived from them.

For example, you may be asked to
  • Calculate the probability of an outcome on the basis of given data.
  • Indicate whether statements follow logically from the information provided.
  • Determine the meaning of a term within the context in which it is used.
“Infer question Types” ask about information or ideas that are not explicitly stated in the materials provided but can be derived from them. The problems here can be Quantitative as well.
