Water in a certain sprinkler system flows through a level hose connected to a nozzle which is directed upward. The water leaves the nozzle and shoots to a height h before falling back down again into a pool. (See figure.)
The hose is connected to a reservoir which maintains the water there at a pressure Pres. Assume the flow has no viscosity from the reservoir until it gets out of the nozzle. Use the following notation:
Anoz = cross-sectional area of the nozzle
Lhose = length of the hose
Patm = pressure of the outside atmosphere
ρ = density of water.
Does Bernoulli's principle apply for the water which falls into the pool?
