Imagine you own a car factory, and there is only one set of blueprints on how to make cars. Many need to see the blueprints- the engineers, the designers, the assembly line foremen. You can’t entrust the blueprints, the only set, to everyone who needs them. So what do you do? You make copies of the instructions. This way, everyone has their own set and can complete whatever task they need to.
This is analogous to how a cell works. Instead of directly using its only set of information (the DNA), the cell makes copies of it, in the form of RNA. This is known as transcription.
