Conservation Of Resources
Major problems of depletion of resources occurs due to their indiscriminate use. There is a need to conserve resources due to the following reasons:
- Over-utilization to satisfy greed of few individuals.
- Economic inequality due to concentration of resources in the hands of a few.
- Indiscriminate exploitation leading to world environmental crisis.
Hence, there is an immediate need for sustainable development and resource planning. Sustainable development implies that the present development should not adversely affect the needs of the future generation and that development activities should not damage the environment. The Rio de Janerio Earth Summit, 1992, was organised to address the urgent concern of environmental protection and a worldwide socio-economic development.
Over-utilisation of resources leads to socio-economic and environmental problems. Resource conservation aims to create optimum utilisation and sustainable development.
