Conservation of minerals and energy resources
The geological processes involved in mineral formations are slow. Hence, once these minerals are exploited and used in all effective purposes, they are non-renewable resources. Continued extraction of minerals without a plan for sustainability will lead to shortage in future. Recycling of metals is an effective way of conserving the resources. Improvement of technology will enable us to use lower grade ores or access the deposits at inaccessible areas. The consumption of energy has increased manifold in India. Sustainable development and utilisation of energy sources is the need of the hour. Sustainable use of non-renewable energy sources, increased use of renewable resources, judicious use of electricity, using power-saving gadgets and use of non-conventional sources of power are necessary to conserve energy resources.
