Dual Nature of Light

Phenomena such as interference, diffraction, etc., can be explained by assuming that light behaves as a wave whereas phenomena such as photoelectric effect, Compton effect, etc., can be explained by assuming that light behaves as particles. Unable to resolve the dichotomy between waves and particles, the physicists compromised with the situation and regarded light as possessing both wave and particle nature. In other words, light has a dual nature.
