Silk Route

The Silk Routes are a good example for the pre-modern trade and cultural links between distant parts of the world. It is the route taken by West-bound Chinese Silk Cargoes. China is known for the export of silk through these routes. There are several Silk Routes, over land and by sea that connect Asia with Europe and northern Africa.

Buddhism spread from eastern India to other countries through this route. Later Muslim preachers and Christian missionaries travelled to Asia via this route.
