Net Neutrality concerns in India

Net neutrality has received significant attention by the media. For example, users of the mobile broadband service provided by MTS (M-Blaze), have free access to MTS, Wikipedia and Yahoo – and, as per its free user policy statement, MTS reserves the right to add or remove further websites to the list of free websites. Similarly, in July 2013 Airtel & Google had collaborated to offer a service where Airtel’s mobile users could access Google search, Gmail and Google+ services for free (up to 1 GB). Although a strict definition of net neutrality principles cannot be used in the Indian context, such plans provide preferential access to users to specific services.
