Topic - chemical bonding Q. in an molecule there are 3 sigma bond and one lone pair so hybridization is sp3. now sp3 is formed due to combination of 1s and 3p ( i.e p-x,p-y,p-z) but I can also consider that 1s and PX and py combine to form sp2 hybrid and because of lone pair It has tetrahedron structure and lone pair is on pz axis pz is also added giving sp3 properties.
Ur thinking is not completely wrond we generally put lone pairs in hybrid orbitals but it may also reside in pure p orbital but the characters of the orbital will remain sp2 rather than sp3
Lone pair only disturbs the symmetry and yes if there r 3bond pair and one lone pair then hybridization is absolutely sp3
