N in dis flow the electrons ill collide wid fixed protons as a result d velocity ill decrease but due to d potential it ill again gain its lost energy n again start moving . . . . . . . As soon as PD is applied across the terminals the electrons get aligned and start moving in the -ve to +ve direction and current flows from +ve to -ve direction.The velocity gained by the electrons after PD is applied is known as Drift Velocity.
