What is the hybridisation in PH3 molecule.
I think as per hyb rule by calculating no of sig bonds+no of lone pairs we get sp3hyb
Gaurav, ph3 dont have any hybridisation.( drago rule)
In ph3 bonds are made by pure p orbital not by hybridised orbitals.
(This is prooved by fact that in ph3 angle between each p-h bond in 90° not 103°)
No hybridisation drago rule
But if central atom and surrounded atom has moderate electro negativity difference than due to absence of partial positive and negative charges overlapping takes place and they have well defind hybridization eg...mno4--
According to radial distance data if central atom and surrounded atom has larger atomic radii overlapping does not takes place and hence such molecules has no well defined hybridization. This is known as Dragos rule....... Hence ph3 has no well defined hybridization.....
