A patient on aspirin will have increase in (LQ)
Aspirin - It acetylates and inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase & TX synthetase - inactivating them irreversibly. The platelets are exposed to aspirin in portal circulation before it gets deacetylated in the liver and hence ↑ BT.
Causes of ↑BT- any qualitative or quantitative defect of platelets.
E.g. - Von Willebrand disease, ITP, glanzman thromoasthenia, uremia etc.
Causes of ↑ thrombin time (TI)
c. Heparin administration
Causes of ↑ PT - Deficiency of factor VII or vitamin K,
Causes of ↑ PIT - Deficiency of factor XII, HMW kininogen, pre-kallikrein.
Deficiency of factor XI, VIII, IX
