Adjustment of dose of drug not required in cirrhosis of liver: (LQ)
- Lorazepam has extrahepatic conjugation; hence this drug does not require dosage modification in liver disease.
- It is the drug of choice for two conditions: preanethestic medication and status epilepticus.
- It has replaced diazepam for this indication as it is more potent, longer acting and is safer. Moreover, it can be given intramuscularly as well.
