Some imp facts about JE
a. Japanese encephalitis virus, the most important cause of epidemic arbovirus encephalitis in Asia, has a wide clinical spectrumranging from asymptomatic infection to severe infection with permanentneurologic sequelae and a high case fatality rate of 30 to 70%.
b. JE vaccine is a formalin-inactivated virus derived from purified infected mouse brain.
c. The recommended primary immunization series is three doses administered on days 0, 7, and 30. Booster doses may beadministered after 2 years.
