In lateral rectus muscle paralysis, the diplopia produced is: (AIIMS Nov 2012)
1. Paralysis of lateral rectus muscle: There is limitation of outward movement of eyeball and face is turned towards the paralyzed side. Homonymous (uncrossed) diplopia occurs on looking to the paralyzed side. Q
2. Diplopia (double vision) is the chief complaint of the patients of paralysis of extrinsic muscles of eyeball.
3. If the object as seen by the right eye is to the right to the object seen by the left eye, then the condition is known as homonymous (uncrossed) diplopia.
4. On the contrary if the object as seen by the left eye lies apparently to the right of the object as seen by the right eye, the condition is known as heteronymous (crossed) diplopia.
