Sclerosing Osteomyelitis of Garre’s

  1. Chronic form of disease in which bone is thickened and distended but abcess and sequestra are absent.
  2. Cause unknown, most likely caused by anaerobic organism.
  3. Intermittent pain.
  4. Swelling and Tenderness over affected area.
  5. X-rays-expanded bone with generalized sclerosis.
  6. ESR slightly elevated.
  7. Biopsy reveals- chronic low grade nonspecific osteomyelitis.
  8. Cultures are negative.
  9. No treatment except fenestration has been helpful.
  10. Distinguish from Osteoid Osteoma, that is intracortical or intraosseous, never more than 2 cm in size. Night cries is hallmark
