Injuries of Upper Limb
Malunion fracture shaft humerus is well accepted because of all the following reasons except
|A||Multiaxial movement of the shoulder will mask many of the effects of the malunion.|
|B||Because of the thick soft tissue cover around the arm malunion would not be visible hence cosmetically acceptable.|
|C||Malunion with shortening would be acceptable because it would not be obvious as in the lower limb where small amount of shortening would cause a limp.|
|D||Malunion would cause myositis ossificans at the elbow which would mask the defect higher up.|
Malunion would cause myositis ossificans at the elbow which would mask the defect higher up.
Myositis ossificans as a direct complication of malunion is unheard of. Rare possibility of myositis at elbow is possible after massages for fracture humerus.
