Internal fixation after 24 hr
a. Compound fractures are very difficult fractures to treat and external fixation remains one of the standard methods.
b. Plastic surgery to bridge soft tissue defects is performed at all higher centres. Internal fixation is not done after 24 hrs but can be done within 8 hrs of injury.
