Hemolytic uremic syndrome

  1. Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and acute renal insufficiency
  2. D + or typical HUS- associated with a diarrheal prodrome.
  3. D - or atypical HUS- not associated with antecedent diarrhea prodrome.

  7. Peripheral smear shows broken and distorted red cells and increased reticulocyte count.
