Cylinder & Anesthesia Machine
The most appropriate circuit for ventilating a spontaneously breathing infant during anaesthesia is:
|A||Jackson Rees modification of Ayre's T piece.|
|B||Mapleson A or Magill's circuit.|
|C||Mapleson C or Water's to and fro canister|
Jackson Rees modification of Ayre's T piece.
Jackson Rees is most commonly used circuit in pediatrics for children < 6 years of age or less than 20 kg. It is more effective for controlled spontaneous ventilation. (Fresh gas flow for controlled ventilation is 1.6 times and for spontaneous ventilation is 2.5 times i.e., similar to Bains).
