The pathological feature in Wegener's granulomatosis on renal biopsy is (AIIMS May 2013)
|B||Focal necrotizing glomerulonephritis|
|C||Granulomas in the vascular wall|
|D||Granuloma of parenchyma of kidney|
• Robbins .....'The renal lesions range from a mild/early disease, where Slomeru.li show acute focal necrosis with thrombosis of isolated glomerular capillary loop (focal and segmental necrotizing glomerulonephiritis) whereas advanced glomerular lesions are characterized diffuse necrosis and parietal cell proliferation to form crescents (crescentic glomerulonephritis)
• Direct quote from Harrison........ "Necrotizing vasculitis of small arteries and veins with granuloma formation is seen in pulmonary tissue whereas granuloma formations rarely seen on renal biopsy".
