The position of hand during application of POP cast for fracture scaphoid has been classically described as

|B||Clenched fist: position|
|C||Tumbler holding position|
Tumbler holding position
a. The scaphoid piaster extends upto the proximal skin crease in the hand to allow full range of movements at the MCP joints of the fingers and the thumb should be free to move at the interphalangeal joint.
b. The hand should be as if holding a tumbler.
