Which form of vitamin k is C/I in G6PD patient.
a. Menadione (K3) is contra-indicated in patient with G-6-PD deficiency (causes hemolysis).
b. It is also C/I in newborn (more chances of kernicterus due to competitive inhibition of glucuronidation of bilirubin and its displacement from plasma protein binding sites).
c. In cirrhotic patients with an abnormal prothrombin time, vitamin K1 (10 mg) should be administered subcutaneously.
