Which of the following is the commonest vector for malaria transmission in India:
Some 45 species of anopheles mosquitoes have been found in India but only a few of them have been incriminated as vectors or carriers of malaria. They are (1) An. Culicifacies (2) An. Fluviatilis (3) An. Minimus (4) An. Philippinensis (5) An. Stephensi (6) An. Sundaicus and (7) An. Leucosphyrus. The areas of distribution of these mosquitoes are different: An. Fluviatilis and An. Minimus are found in the foot-hill regions; An. Sundaicus and An. Stephensi are found in the coastal regions; and An. Culicifacies and An. Philippinensis are found in the plains.
