New Question Answer Types
Where as on the former GRE, every question was a single-answer, multiple-choice problem, the new GRE consists of three different structures for selecting the correct answers.
Single-answer multiple-choice questions are just what they sound like—multiple-choice questions in which you are instructed to identify one correct answer—just like the old GRE.
Multiple-answer multiple-choice questions are a new take on multiple-choice questions that may frustrate the test-taking strategies you’ve been honing your whole scholarly life. For these questions, you are instructed to select as many answer choices as are correct—careful, this can be anywhere from one to all of the choices, and you won’t know how many to look for.
Select-in passages are reading comprehension questions that ask you to highlight within a passage the sentence or phrase that answers the question.
