It led to huge expenditure which was financed by loans, custom duties, taxes were raised. prices were doubled during 1913 -1918 by which common people went gone under hardships. Ill treatment of khalifa by British strengthen nationalist movement among Muslims also. Forced recruitment from Indian villages in British army.
These all factors helped in growth of national movement in India.
